Sachin Ala Re!

The Doubting Thomases can now eat a large helping of humble pie. SRT has roared back to form with his quick-fire 93, adorned with some vintage shots as has always been his wont. Unfortunately i missed his innings by the time i got up today but managed to see bits of his vintage cover-drives and the long-missing flicked one-bouce fours. The tennis elbow has healed. Beware Federer!

  • Yup AA,HE IS BACK.I was one of those who was totally frustrated by the way he was playing for the last few years except for the odd sparkle(remember WC 03 against pakistan). But this time it looks like he has removed the shackles binding his mind for good.

There was a smile on his face&a rhythm in his batting. He was having a ball on the cricket field.

hoping to see more of vintage Sachin in the matches to come.He may have the odd failure-No problem.

PS:the Indian express has an article which says Greg played a big part in the way Sachin played yesterday.

  • Cinefan,
"...except for the odd sparkle(remember WC 03 against pakistan)"
I beg to differ slightly. Agreed our success in the WC03 was because of team work but Sachin played a primary role in reviving our fortunes. He made a mark in almost every match, being at his attacking best.
Even in the series in Pakistan, he made a century (but in vain) but yes, in a way you can say that he was not his typical free-flowing self all this while after the WC.

Will check out the IE article.....

  • Hi there,
Not yet my friend.! Let's wait.!!
Though I am glad, India won and Sachin scored runs...I'd be pleased if he continues the trend.

IMHO Indian cricketers ( once they reach a stage where they are stable ) become a little too lazy...! They'll score a 100 and keep quiet for a few games and then when press/ people talk begin to talk, they'll score again!

If you look at History and talk to people this has always been happening.

And all along ( as this veteran was sitting there scoring nothing) a poor Youngster would hit 100's and 200's in a local matches find a place in the 16 and yet won't be able to play and then they will even drop him.!!

I've always advocated for young blood in the Indian team.! I mean in the early 20's. A few veteran's ( I mean old men) are ok..but they have to perform consistently.!

Having said that, I wish Sachin, his fans and India the very best in this series.

  • Narayanan,
"And all along ( as this veteran was sitting there scoring nothing)"
Even a cursory look at his statistics would reveal that he hasn't been inconsistent as commonly perceived. His bat speaks for him.

"Having said that, I wish Sachin, his fans and India the very best in this series."
    Absolutely!
