Misc...

  • Go Windies! Hail karunchiruthai Lara and his men
  • What's wrong with this Himesh Reshammiya? Somebody please stop him from singing and appearing in videos.
  • What's the Thamizh word for digital? I and my colleagues had set up different seyarkuzhus to crack this but in vain [Yeah, they happen to be equally jobless at present]
  • Puduppettai will be the first Thamizh film [first to be released] made in Super 35mm format, thanks to the barrage of obstacles faced by VV, making its release a distant frustrating dream. Some guys just don't have any fucking luck
  • These days, Marina beach is less galeej than Besant Nagar beach in terms of the "bad element" population
  • You can give up your dream of buying a house in Anna Nagar, or just about anywhere else in Cehnnai city if you happen to be in the category of the great Indian middle-class
  • 8 Mile absolutely rocks. So does Eminem
  • I don't actually care who performs poojas in temples. Now, look at these comments from this saffron dude Ganeshram in Ferrari's blog. Check out his usage of 'the ppl' to refer to people who are in his view, inferior, unfit and not eligible for the deed.

Haha, remember Dravid's interviews before leaving - tried to act humble, but you could tell he was overconfident. For, some reason, a lot of cricket fans love the Windies kicking their opponent's ass, even if the losing team happens to be their team :-)

These days, Marina beach is less galeej than Besant Nagar beach in terms of the "bad element" population
Vast stretches on the Marina have been taken up fishermen as also on the Thiruvanmiyur beach. Galeej folks, esp the politically influential ones rule in Chennai. I have explored numerous smaller, nicer beaches on ECR - the only problem is idiot friends who refuse to go there.

    8 Mile absolutely rocks.
House full, when I went to watch 8 mile soon after it was released.I threw away the album after reading the lyrics - eminem sounds messed up 'upstairs', though the music was brilliant.

or just about anywhere else in Cehnnai city if you happen to be in the category of the great Indian middle-class
Damn, the middle class goal post keeps moving. It's even worse in Bangalore, they talk only in crores. Recently, I visited a gated community under construction - an expat friend of mine is building a house for 1.75Cr :-(

  • What's with you man!I would love to see India beating the Windies but wouldn't mind seeing them defeat the others.

bnb,I don't think Dravid sounded overconfident. He was shouting from rooftops that they cannot be taken lightly.

As for anyone performing pujas at temples,I don't mind it but is it not a prerequisite that he should be qualified.Who will judge that-A minister? Is there any institute, patashala's teaching the process?I read somewhere that despite all these claims of 'Brahmins'not allowing the other castes to learn the 'vedas'et,there are many ppl teaching these for free(everyone invited)but it's always the 'Brahmins'who end up joining them.

  • Lara
But what did Lara do? Sad that he and SRT are both in their last legs. With guys like Afridi having a Test avg of 45 in last 5 yrs, are we witnessing the end of class? :(
[1 ton v India, 30 v Rest - time for Lara to set record straight]

    Digital
Did you check out any online tamil dictionary? I will find out from some tamil vallunars and let u know.

    the ppl:
hey! When a kid appoints himself as an e-Hercules to bear an entire culture on his broad shoulders beating aside 1 billion people, he needs a standing ovation, not brickbats! ;-)

  • Also A_A,what's up with VV?June 2nd is just a week away&Sify which first spoke about that being the release date is maintaining a silence. What's the latest status.

BTW,do you know that 'Puthupettai'is going to have an amazing opening just on the strength of Selva's name.Any way you are going to change ur opinion on him.Why not watch the film&think of reconsidering.

Anyway that's one film after VV that I am really looking forward to.Hope it doesn't disappoint.

  • Zero,
    Adhaane?? :)

    bnb,
Yeah, ECR's beaches are MUCH better. College la irukkumbodhu we used to frequent Valmiki beach in Thiruvanmiyur and also a place before Mahabs which one of us named "Alpine hoc" or something!

    Threw away the album-a????
Lyrics thaan Eminem-oda most powerful factor, and especially because he had a bad childhood and all. At least better than MJ's occassional escapes into self pity.

Also, i agree with Cinefan that Dravid would not be one who is overconfident [that i would love to see him struggle like he did in Australia in '99 is another story]

    Ferrari,
    Vittuduvom! Ellathayum vittuduvom Mani style:)

    Viji,
You and all big big peoples ma. You and all can buy house in Bangalore ma!

    Cinefan,
I know its very chinna pulla thanam on my part but Sachin illenna [and Lara too], cricket la perisa onnum illa and i cant bear to watch an Indian team without him, no matter how well the others perform! :)

And like i said, it doesn't make a difference to me who does these poojas but i just wanted to highlight Ganeshram's comments

  • TTM,
Lara ottha kai four onnu adichaaru, adhu podhum :)
Today's Hindu has a nice one on Lara [and Sach as well]

    Cinefan,
VV - According to Melody theatre folks and Ananth Sir [who spoke to Narayanan] the date AS OF NOW is June 30. Definitely not June 6.

ANANTH ALSO SAYS THAT AANDAVAR HAS MADE A DETOUR TO CANNES. Possible since he was visiting his hospitalized brother anyway.

Puduppettai - Will be watching it just for Aandavar's song. If the flick is good [unlike his earlier films] will definitely watch it. Releasing in PVR in Bangalore?

  • ttm,
Please let me know if you find the Thamizh word for 'digital'. Will update if i find out.

  • Bala,
    Naan antha Ganeshram comment'ellam padikkula...
But you can read Cho's take on the whole issue in this week's Thuglak.

But what continues to surprise me is a party which does claims to not believe in God has to take so much pains about stuff like this. They can instead concentrate on repairing all the roads which eroded in November. Enga veetu road kandraviairruku.

  • A_A,Yes,it is releasing in PVR.Hope to catch up on it b4 the next weekend. As you know I am a big fan of Selva.:)

  • bala (karthik):
iirc, eminem has something about killing/hurting his wife/girlfriend. I had to draw a line there. Anyway it's been a long time since I heard it and each to his own.

BTW, I responded to your observation on Himmesh with a separate post :-D

  • Tamizhan,
Was keen on watching the movie ONLY because of Aandavar's song :(
