Ranking Menace

Humankind is plagued by many deadly menaces. I was just wondering if there could be any ranking amongst them. Irrespective of any ranking we might give, there is very little to chose between them. A list, not in any particular order
  • Western Imperialism
  • Terrorism
  • Global Warming
  • Politicians/Pimps
  • AIDS
  • Indian Cops
  • HR Executives

The auto drivers near my home in Chennai were friendly to me, because I was spending a minor fortune on them I also tend to chat with auto-drivers about all topics under the sun - some time back one of these blokes told me about an elite school in Adyar(sishya I think) - "Andha schoolukka varadhulla yaaru Amma yaaru Ponnu-nu theriyala sir !" :-). But I think overall they a bunch of opportunistic cheats in chennai and blr. I think auto-drivers in Mumbai are the best in the world.

    msp:
I am referring to SOUNDs - Son(s) Of Udit Narayan Dog(s) when I say Damilu singers :-)

  • The 'topic of autodrivers' is the Brahmastra that brings every fierce and jingoistic Chennai citizen down to earth :)

Just for kicks, I cornered a diehard chennai-ite using the thrishul of "Autodrivers, Water and Mosquitoes" - he became apologetic and said that meter problem can never be solved as 80% of the autos are owned by the MLAs.

    Is this true?

  • ttm:
LOL! Trishul indeed. I am not too sure about 80% ownership by mamas - might be a bit of an urban legend; they say the same thing about stray cows on roads. But it might be true that most of the drivers don't own the autos they drive. The ones that do own own them usually buy it with a loan from a Sethji somewhere and till the loan gets repaid he keeps the original RC book etc. Oru auro-kaaran told me that once you establish a relationship with the lenders, it's very easy to get second/third loan etc.

There is a magazine for auto-drivers in Chennai - don't remember the name OTOH.

    Bala:
I will try to catch that movie as well - interesting, let's see. Owe Arya and Bharath one for Pattiyal.

  • ttm,
