Two Gems

I just discovered two rare and relatively unexplored gems of The King.

Chikkendra Adayil [Iniya Uravu Poothadhu]: Very 80-ish but still fun to listen to. Check out for SJ's voice [vera yaaru!!], the bass guitar and the trade mark trumpet. Its also interesting to note how the charanams end.

Enge Enge, From the same movie: SJ rules. Wonder how a song from the 80s when heard now still remains fresh and lends itself to discoveries like treasures waiting to be unearthed. Unconventional bass [alternating between bass guitar and synth(?)] and interludes with superb rhythm changes. Note how the vocal remains an Indian melody, retaining its individuality amidst all this.   • Tamizhan, matter song? Nadhiya movie-la? You must be joking!
    As far as I know, nadhiya doesnt do matter. I mean, in movies - we are not talking about her personal life. More relevant point is, even if she did, it wouldnt matter much to matter fans :-)

    You have a point. Nadhiya is like the present day Gopika. Even if she 'does' matter on screen, the matter fans wouldnt care a hoot. However while Nadhiya could carry a lead role well, opika should not be given anythin other than thangachi roles.

    P.S: Aandavarukku sodi Nadhiyava??? Level mismatch i say! :))

  • bala, correct dhaan. Nadhiya with kamal - sounds quite quirky. But anyway did you know that Nadhiya claimed she wouldnt act with Kamal because the latter had a reputation of 'exploiting' his heroines?
    That said, as usual, Nadhiya has done some "close to" matter songs in Telugu movies. Adhu sari, Suhasini-laam (another in this category)Telugu-la soft-porn-e panni irukka so this isnt a major surprise :-). Did you know "Nela kaayudhu" telugu version was done by Suhasini?

    Gopika? Should be given 'Akka' (not thangachi) roles :-)

    Coming back to this movie, It is a Nadhiya-Suresh movie. Hope that is warning enough - if not, take this- it is a Sridhar movie of late 80's :-)

    Are you in India? Teja, Aditya, Gemini indha channel ellam konjam paartha, you will know more about madam paramakudi :-). Not that I recommend it but for the record, suhasini's done cleavage show, pallu drop, some passionate hugs and clinches with Chiru, raunchy rain songs(Again with chiru) etc in Telugu :-)
