  • My favourite..

  • zero,
I distinctly remember SG saying this on more than one occassion but maybe AL too had said that.. Infact, many commentators say this "hooker" thing :)

    msp/Sridhar,
    LOL :)

    raj,
Yeah... it seems McGrath was very much hurt by that - his wife was undergoing treatment for breast cancer at that time...

  • Another incident:
Ind vs Aus 2003 world cup @ Centurion

Sachin: "Naan dhaan leg-guard ku veliya nikkaren illa, stump-ku poda vendiyadhu dhaane??"
McGrath: "Matten! Potta ennaya nee adippa!"
This is a real incident which is well documented in the media.

    And..
Someone (Merv Hughes?) to King Sir Issac Vivian Alexander Richards after the latter is beaten
MH: "Its red, round and is made of leather"
Next ball, IVA thumps the ball to the boundary and says to the bowler "Its red, round and is made of leather"...

  • A_A the last one has been attributed to several people against several people. The version I like to believe was that it was said by Viv Richards to Bob Willis.

Their rivalry was quite famous. Richards helped himself to a couple of centuries, chiefly off Willis's bowling, when WI toured them in 1980.

When Sandeep Patil hit Bob Willis for 6 fours in an over in Old Trafford '82, apparently the King had a magnum of champagne delivered to the Indian dressing room :D

  • Vignesh,
It's 100% true and of course i translated it! :)
If you remember, Sachin was taking a leg-guard and standing a bit outside leg stump to make the bowlers bowl to his stumps. Of course, McGrath didn't oblige :)
